Despite its reputation as an environmentally-conscious, progressive city, Los Angeles is home to the nation’s largest urban oil field. Communities across the city, plagued with the severe health impacts of oil extraction, have united as STAND-LA (Stand Together Against Neighborhood Drilling, Los Angeles), an environmental justice coalition that is working to end oil drilling in residential neighborhoods. RALLY works with the coalition on a campaign to reimagine L.A.’s energy economy and prioritize community health over oil industry profits. Our work is guided by one common sense principle—that oil drilling is inherently incompatible with healthy, sustainable communities.

On behalf of STAND, RALLY has worked to bring media attention to the widespread harm of oil and gas drilling in our city and steer the discussion to sustainable, community-first solutions. Along with building and maintaining a bilingual website and active social media profiles for the coalition, RALLY manages media relations, executes events, and provides strategic guidance to the campaign. By elevating the voices of affected residents, RALLY is helping STAND revolutionize energy production in Los Angeles and create healthier, safer neighborhoods for all Angelenos.
