How does a group of philanthropic activists come together to quickly raise funds and support for millions of people across an entire state during an unprecedented global pandemic?
In the face of a global health crisis, a group of philanthropic activists, with the support of Governor and First Lady Inslee, came together in Washington State to create a first of its kind platform, “All In WA” — a coordinated statewide relief effort powered by a coalition of public officials, companies, philanthropic leaders, community foundations, United Way organizations, frontline nonprofits, and individuals focused on philanthropic funding across Washington state to support families and workers who are struggling in the wake of the pandemic. RALLY helped launch All In WA to provide support for Washingtonians impacted by COVID-19.
For the launch, RALLY built the website and created the look and feel of All In WA’s branding, along with its social media toolkits and digital media, a video showcasing All In WA supporters across the state, and messaging for community foundations. As a means to draw attention to the effort, we coordinated media awareness of flag raisings of the All In WA flag at seven locations across Washington on launch day and worked with Amazon and a production team to drive substantive content for a statewide benefit concert with Washington talent including Pearl Jam, Macklemore, Brandi Carlile, Dave Matthews, and Sir Mix-A-Lot, among many others. Post concert we continued to elevate and announce new funds in order to keep fundraising going beyond the $65 million goal.
As new funds were announced, we were able to engage partners throughout the state including the Seattle Seahawks, the Kracken, Ole Reign, Seattle Mariners, Puget Sound Energy, and many others to elevate social media and provide further resources to All In Washington cause funds including the Digital Equity Initiative and the Black Future Co-Op Fund. The All in WA relief effort has raised the morale of an entire state and created a shift to bring people together to lift up Washingtonians impacted by COVID-19 and push funds out to heavily impacted communities that don’t have a large philanthropic infrastructure. The All In WA campaign is matching individual gifts dollar for dollar up to $1 million, thanks to a generous $25 million personal contribution from the Founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos with the goal of raising $65 million in relief funds for Washington state. 100% of all donations to the All In WA Fund will go directly to help those in need.
