How do you free a wrongfully imprisoned Dreamer in a climate fueled by hate?
Strategy and Campaign Management
From the minute DACA-beneficiary Daniel Ramirez Medina was illegally detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, RALLY worked with a top notch legal team including Public Counsel, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, and Barrera Legal Group to end the nightmare Daniel was living. RALLY worked to share and amplify Daniel’s story, elevate the national narrative around immigrant youth, and combat the government’s misinformation and character attacks on Daniel while protecting the privacy of his family.
RALLY engaged with local, national and international media, members of Congress and advocacy groups to tell Daniel’s story in an empathetic and human way, raising awareness about the enormous impact of Daniel’s case on the nearly 800,000 DACA recipients living and working in the U.S.
Daniel was released after nearly two months at an immigration detention center, but his case—which seeks to understand what a promise from the federal government truly means—carries on in federal court. RALLY continues to secure positive, empathetic news coverage and editorials in support of Daniel’s story, including an op-ed written by Daniel in the Washington Post and feature coverage in the Seattle Times, New Yorker, La Opinion, CNN, and others.
