Melissa Serrano is an Account Associate in RALLY’s San Francisco office with experience in media relations, policy analysis and research, grassroots organizing, and message development.
At RALLY, Melissa works with GoFundMe, the largest online social fundraising platform, helping with earned media strategy and influencer engagement. Specifically, she elevates political, viral, and newsworthy campaigns through pitching to English and Spanish media markets. Melissa also supports Center for Western Priorities with communication strategies to promote their Winning the West campaign, which provides polling data to help political candidates connect with Western voters on public lands and energy issues.
Melissa first joined RALLY as a Fellow in the San Francisco office, where she supported national environmental law firm Earthjustice’s Right to Zero campaign to create a zero emissions California. Melissa assisted with creating social media content, event planning, and campaign strategy.
Prior to RALLY, Melissa worked at Facebook, where she supported new product development and data analysis for the Product Data Integrity team. She also interned at Women Donors Network and the San Francisco Film Society as a communications intern. In both roles, Melissa gained experience in social justice and film by managing their social media channels, media monitoring, and writing for their website.
A Northern California native, Melissa graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Communication Studies and minor in Film Studies. In her free time, Melissa loves planning her next vacation, attending film events around the Bay Area, exploring San Francisco restaurants through the help of Yelp reviews, and walking her two Goldendoodles, Milo and Luna.
