Rachele Huennekens is an Account Manager at RALLY specializing in media relations, mobilization for social justice, and messaging. With more than ten years of experience in advocacy and strategic communication, Rachele is adept at moving both hearts and minds.
Rachele currently leads messaging for Earthjustice’s Right to Zero campaign, a transformative climate and environmental justice campaign across California. She also supports San Francisco’s iconic GLIDE Foundation with earned media, writing and publications, and positioning its new strategic vision for serving the most marginalized people; and works with Tipping Point Community to design a communications strategy to advance solutions to chronic homelessness.
In the past two years at RALLY, Rachele has worked with clients including The Colorado Trust, where she coordinated focus groups for the Health Equity Advocacy cohort and shaped messaging on sensitive racial and health equity issues. She also led the team marketing the Asia Society’s climate-themed art exhibition, Coal + Ice.
Prior to joining RALLY, Rachele served as Press Secretary for California Attorney General Kamala Harris. Rachele acted as Harris’ spokesperson on state legal matters and key initiatives to protect consumers, safeguard the Golden State’s environment, and ensure justice for voiceless and vulnerable Californians.
Rachele was formerly the national communications strategist for the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE). There, she devised comprehensive branding and communications plans for the Jobs to Move America campaign and co-created the #WomenCanBuild initiative. Rachele has also worked previously for the Sierra Club, SEIU and the AFL-CIO.
Rachele was born in Washington D.C. and holds a Bachelor of Arts in political communication from the George Washington University. She now calls Oakland home, and enjoys yoga, reading, activism, art, wine, travel, and her bulldog Louie.
